 Jim Moore of Urban Innovations was looking for a way to ensure that every resident of the townhouses he builds has a choice view of the downtown Dallas skyline. Using traditional architectural floor plans, that was no simple task. At a National Homebuilders Association's convention a few years ago, Moore learned about ArchiCAD design software, which lets architects design in three dimensions. "It blew me away," he says. Moore now uses ArchiCAD to orient his townhouses so that the rooftops, balconies and windows maximize the residents' downtown views. More »

Roberto Castanheira, a designer with RC3D in Dallas, says he’s had several recent requests from parents who want to put media rooms downstairs, where they can keep an eye on the kids, instead of upstairs, which has been the general practice. Bonham and Sexton Street Projects Prior to construction, the building team contacted the Greater Dallas Home Builders Association HomeAid charity, who promoted salvage opportunities by contacting the Metro Homeless Dallas Alliance.
