Jim Moore of Urban Innovations was looking for a way to ensure that every resident of the townhouses he builds has a choice view of the downtown Dallas skyline. Using traditional architectural floor plans, that was no simple task. At a National Homebuilders Association's convention a few years ago, Moore learned about ArchiCAD design software, which lets architects design in three dimensions.
"It blew me away," he says.
Moore now uses ArchiCAD to orient his townhouses so that the rooftops, balconies and windows maximize the residents' downtown views.
